Why Did I Suddenly Want to Meditate?

Before meditation found its way into my daily routine, my journey toward deeper truths and spiritual exploration looked quite different. Like many people, I initially sought to experience something beyond ordinary physical reality through substances—specifically, drugs. At first, I believed they might unlock doors to the extraordinary states of consciousness and awareness I craved.

Yet, each experience felt temporary, superficial, and ultimately unsatisfying. Drugs never delivered lasting insights, clarity, or a genuine sense of spiritual connection. Instead, I was often left feeling disappointed, drained, and oddly empty—always chasing the next temporary escape, hoping it would somehow provide the meaningful answers I desperately sought.

Everything began shifting profoundly when I stumbled upon several influential books that reshaped my perspective about reality, consciousness, and spirituality. Among these, one book resonated deeply and permanently changed the course of my journey: The Ra Material (also known as The Law of One).

The Ra Material explored profound concepts like unity consciousness, reincarnation, karma, and the reality that transcends our everyday physical existence. For the first time, I found a spiritual text that genuinely made sense to me, providing answers to questions I hadn’t yet fully articulated. It became clear that to genuinely experience these profound truths and states of awareness, substances weren’t the solution—something deeper and more authentic was needed.

That’s when meditation entered my awareness as a natural and reliable path. Countless spiritual teachers, including the Ra teachings, emphasized meditation as the safest, most authentic way to explore consciousness deeply and sustainably. Unlike external substances, meditation promised an inward journey—one rooted in clarity, mindfulness, and genuine spiritual growth.

I must admit, initially, I felt uncertain and slightly skeptical. Meditation had always seemed vague, inaccessible, or something that required years of disciplined practice. But the curiosity that The Ra Material sparked in me was too powerful to ignore. So, in August 2024, I decided to set aside just five minutes a day to meditate, committing gently and without expectations.

That simple choice dramatically changed my life.

Within just two short months, I began experiencing subtle yet deeply profound visuals and sensations, as I’ve described in my previous posts. Meditation had genuinely opened doors within myself that substances never could. Rather than chasing fleeting experiences, meditation offered authentic, lasting encounters with something much greater—an entire universe within.

Reflecting now, I’m profoundly grateful that I transitioned from external substances to meditation. The path to genuine spiritual growth and deep inner experiences lies within, patiently waiting to be discovered by each of us in our own time.

If you’re currently searching for deeper truths or spiritual clarity, please know this: genuine answers rarely come from outside. The deepest truths and most transformative experiences emerge naturally when we turn inward, gently embracing meditation as our quiet guide.
